CELEBRATION TO HONOR ST. ROCCO AUGUST 17-18

ITALIAN COLONY OF ALIQUIPPA WILL OBSERVE
ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY WITH TWO-DAY PROGRAM


       Band concerts, fireworks, a parade, sport events and dancing will feature the celebration staged by the Italian colony of Aliquippa in honor of the 11th anniversary of St. Rocco, Saturday and Sunday, August 17 and 18.

       Francesco Vallecorsa, chairman of the committee in charge of the celebration, announces the two-day program as follows:
Saturday, August 17
2 p.m. - J & L band opens celebration with a few performances in various parts of town.
7:00-11:00 p.m. - J & L band concert on bandstand, Third avenue, Plan 11
11 p.m. - Grand display of fireworks.

A dance, featuring Sil Mont’s orchestra, will be in
progress during the evening at Polish hall, Plan 11.

Sunday, August 18
7a.m. - J & L band will parade on Plan 11 streets.
8a.m. - Sons of Italy band of West Aliquippa parades the streets of West Aliquippa
9a.m. - Parade, headed by both bands and followed by various Italian lodges and children dressed in white, will start at the Polish hall on Plan 11 and head towards St. Titus church, where a high mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
4p.m. - Band concert. There will be, in addition, various sports events, including:
Men’s tug of war, one-legged race, pie-eating contest and young men and girls’ races.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners, these prizes being offered by Aliquippa merchants.
10:30 p.m. - Awarding of the bedroom suite will be at the bandstand.
8-11 p.m. - During this time, there will be a band concert with continuous performances by the J & L band, conducted by Walter Iacobucci, alternating with the Sons of Italy band of West Aliquippa, conducted by Carl D’Atri

The committee in charge of the celebration is composed of the following:

Asst. Chairman - Cesare Biancucci
Secretary - Domenico Rinaldi
Treasurer - Antonio Bologna
