ITALIAN CLUB WILL HONOR
SAINT ROCCO IN CELEBRATION TWO DAYS
DISPLAY OF AERIAL FIREWORKS WILL OPEN THE PROGRAM
AT 2 P.M. ON SATURDAY, BAND CONCERTS IN EVENING
PARADE SUNDAY PRECEDES MASS

The Musical and Political Italian club of Aliquippa will hold the seventh annual celebration in honor of the
club’s patron, Saint Rocco, tomorrow and Sunday, on Plan 11.
A display of aerial fireworks will mark the beginning of the celebration at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. The Jones &
Laughlin Steel Corporation band, under the leadership of Walter Iacobucci, will play and parade through the
principal streets of Plan 11, after which the band will enter a motor van which will take the musicians to
Station Street, Hopewell avenue and Plan 7. The band will march at each of these points.
From 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., at half-hour intervals, the band will give a concert on a stage erected on Jefferson
street, between Third and Second avenues. After the concert, a display of fireworks will be set off by the
Rozzi Fireworks company of New Castle.
A parade will be held Sunday morning at 10 o’clock which will be composed of members of the Musical and
Political Italian Club, a group of more than 50 small girls and boys dressed in white; three of them carrying
the standard (illegible) images of St. Rocco, with invited lodges following the children and including Sons of
Columbus, Sons of Supino and the Lebanon Miridiates league. The J & L band will lead the entire procession.
The parade will form on Jefferson street, march down Fifth avenue, through Sheffield avenue to Franklin avenue,
thence to St. Titus church where services will be held. Mass will be said by the Rev. J. J. Greaney. After
mass, the parade will march back to Plan 11.
During the afternoon, there will be a program of games and contests, such as pie eating, races and tug-of-war,
with prizes for winners.
Another concert from 5 to 6 p.m. will be given by the band on the stand. After an hour’s rest, the band will
continue to give a concert until 11 p.m., when the celebration will end.
