Saturday And Sunday August 16 and 17 Are
Dates Set For Big Festival On Plan 11 Hill

Under the auspices of the Italian Musical and Political club, the Italians of Aliquippa will hold their sixth
annual celebration in honor of St. Rocco, patron saint of Patrica. This celebration will cover two days,
Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17. The feast will take place on Plan 11 hill, but every section of
Aliquippa is invited to join in making this the greatest and most successful of all celebrations.
On Saturday the 16th, at 2 p.m., the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation band will parade around the streets
of Plan 11. Then they will enter the bandstand and give a concert in the open until 10:30 p.m. taking an
hour off for dinner. Under the able direction of bandmaster, Walter Iacobucci, the musical program will be
varied and suitable to most refined tastes of music lovers. At 10:30 p.m. there will be a grand display of
fireworks, which will be turned over to the Ohio Fireworks Manufacturing Display company, of Bellaire, OH.
On Sunday, the 17th, the band will parade over the Plan 11 streets again, playing popular numbers and marches.
The paraders will march to the Fourth Avenue and Jefferson Street hall, where they will be joined by a number
of little children dressed in white, bearing the standard with the patron saint’s effigy. Here also the Sons
of Italy and Italian Political club members will join the parade, which will move down Jefferson, Fifth Avenue,
Sheffield Avenue and then cut into Franklin Avenue along Cochran Street.
Marching along Franklin Avenue, the parade will stop at St. Titus Roman Catholic church, where Rev. Leo Coleman
and two other priests will celebrate solemn high mass in honor of St. Rocco, at 11:30 a.m.
After mass, the parade will go back to Plan 11. There it will disband at 2 p.m., the band will play another
program until 11:30 p.m. with a short interval for dinner. There are different forms of diversions all day in
which every one may participate. The musical program for the two-day celebration follows:

The committee taking care of the children’s parade is under the direction of Mrs. Onorino Tolassi, assisted
by Mary Salvati, Tillie Simoni and Rose Montini. Honorary president of this celebration is Joseph Guira.
The people of Aliquippa and surrounding towns are cordially invited to participate in the celebration.

Italians Of Aliquippa Will Stage Two-Day Program With
Fireworks Display Tomorrow Night And Big Parade Sunday

The sixth annual celebration in honor of Saint Rocco, patron saint of Patrica, under the auspices of the
Italian Musical and Political club of Aliquippa, will begin tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, when Jones and
Laughlin Steel Corporation band will parade around the streets of Plan 11.
Following the parade at 2 o'clock, the band will give an open-air concert until 10:30 o'clock tomorrow night,
taking an hour off for dinner. Walter Iacobucci, is director of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation
band. At 10:30 o'clock there will be a grand display of fireworks on the Plan 11 hill.
On Sunday, August 17, the band will again parade over the streets of Plan 11, and will be joined in their
Sunday parade by a number of little children dressed in white, bearing the saint's effigy, and the Sons of
Italy, and Italian Political club members. The Sunday morning parade will move down Jefferson, Fifth avenue,
Sheffield avenue, and then out into Franklin avenue along Cochran st.
High mass will be celebrated at St. Titus Roman Catholic church at 11:30 a.m., in honor of St. Rocco.
