St. Rocco's Day To Be Celebrated By The Woodlawn Italian Club

The second annual celebration of St. Rocco's Day will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 14th and
15th. The celebration will be staged by the Italian Political Republican Citizens' club, of Woodlawn.
The program in detail will be published in the next issue of The Gazette.

SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF ST. ROCCO’S DAY AUG. 14 - 15

The second anniversary celebration of St. Rocco’s Day will be held by the Italian Citizens Republican club of
Woodlawn, on Saturday and Sunday, August 14th and 15th, starting in the afternoon of Saturday at 2 o’clock
with a parade, headed by the Woodlawn Band, directed by Felippo Refice, from Plan 11 to Franklin Avenue at
the “Y” where the band will give an open air concert near the Joseph building until 4 p.m.
Returning to Plan 11, the band will give a concert on the band stand erected on Fourth Avenue until 11 p.m.
and at the latter hour, there will be a display of fireworks by J. Rozzi, of New Castle and D. Presutti of
Bellaire, OH.
Sunday, August 15th, the celebration opens at 7 o’clock in the morning when the members of the club, headed
by the Woodlawn band, will march over the streets of Plan 11. At 7:30 a.m. the McKees Rocks band, directed
by Pasquale Colantoni, will arrive in Woodlawn and will give concerts on Plan 11 and other parts of the town.
At 9:30 o’clock, Sunday morning, there will be a grand parade, when members of the Italian Republican club
will march from Fifth Avenue, Plan 11 down to Sheffield Avenue, thence to Engle Street, Franklin Avenue, to
St. Titus church.
At the hour of 11:30 a.m., high mass will be celebrated by Rev. Father J. J. Greaney at St. Titus church.
Leaving the church, the club members headed by the Woodlawn band, will march down Franklin Avenue to the
Monaca Road, and then to Plan 11.
Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock a band concert will be given at the bandstand on Fourth Avenue continuing
until 7 o’clock in the evening.
At 3:30 p.m., Sunday, there will be a program of sports on Plan 11, prizes to be awarded winners of the
events which are as follows:
Race for girls, 12 to 14 years - Prize: Box of candy
Race for girls, 14 to 16 years - Prize: Five dollars
Race for boys, 12 to 14 years - Prize: Box of candy
Race for boys, 14 to 15 years - Prize: Five dollars
Sack race for men, any size - Prize: Five dollars
Slippery board contest for men, any size - Prize: Five dollars
Bucket game for men, any size - Prize: Five dollars
The committee under whose direction the celebration is being given is composed of James Piroli, President;
Leo Andreozzi, Vice President; Christ Rome, Honorary President; James Colonna, Treasurer.
People of the community are invited to attend any or all events scheduled for these two days, Saturday and
Sunday, August 14th and 15th.
